I am a physician and researcher at the University of Michigan studying how we treat pain and how we can use opioids more safely. My work focuses on acute and chronic pain, opioid prescribing around surgery, and the policies that shape care for patients.
I co-direct the Overdose Prevention Engagement Network (OPEN), a Michigan program working to prevent and reduce the harms of opioids, and I served as a voting member of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Anesthetic and Analgesic Drug Products Advisory Committee from 2022 to 2026.
